There are a lot of clichés circulating out there in the personal and professional development space that many people like to latch onto, as if they’re the holy grail to success. And, while many concepts sound good, or even logical, when we miss the key nuances behind them, they can actually trap us from making progress.

Here are just a few of the more common cliché traps to watch-out for:

1) “Know Your Values:”

While knowing what’s important to you is pivotal when it comes to any major career or life move, there’s a big difference between fear-based and conscious-based values.

While the former keeps us running away from the things we don’t want, the latter moves us towards what we do want. In the PAVE CHALLENGE, you’ll learn to identify the difference between values that keep you running away from problems, as opposed to the ones that make you feel truly purposeful and alive, while moving you towards what you want.

2) “Get Outside of Your Comfort Zone:”

In our fast paced world, it’s easy to put a lot of pressure on ourselves to “knock it out of the park” before we’ve even given ourselves a chance to learn and practice swinging the bat! Expecting ourselves to take actions that are too far beyond our current knowledge and capabilities, often induces unnecessary stress, which only causes us to give-up far too early.

In the PAVE CHALLENGE, you’ll learn the importance of developing your “beginner’s mindset” and how to use it to identify “appropriate actions,” or steps that push you just beyond your current capabilities and zone of comfort, without completely overwhelming yourself, or causing you to give-up.

3) “Find Solutions to Your Problems:”

While a solution-oriented mindset can be incredibly helpful when confronting a perceived challenge, if we are only focused on “problem-solving,” then all of our attention tends to focus on just that – problems, or what’s not working in our lives. When this happens, we aren’t inclined to notice what is working!

In the PAVE CHALLENGE, you’ll learn all about Appreciative Inquiry (AI), and how turning your attention towards what’s working in your life, will reconnect you with the very strengths and opportunities that will catapult you towards your goals.
